The story behind the blade

The Elucidator is the primary weapon of Kirito (Kazuto Kirigaya) in Sword Art Online, obtained as a drop from the floor 50 boss in Aincrad. The long double-edged blade is crafted from stainless steel with a deep black finish, a stylized double-bar crossguard, a black sphere pommel, and a black leather hilt.

One of the most recognizable Sword Art Online swords in anime, the natural companion to the Dark Repulsor in Kirito’s dual-wielding style (the Black Swordsman). Prized by Kirito cosplayers, by fans of Reki Kawahara and the Aincrad arc, and by decorators of MMORPG-themed otaku rooms. How to care for your blade

After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.

Is this sword sharpened?

Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.

I pre-ordered this sword at the end of April (the sword was not yet in production and the company had to fulfill numerous orders simultaneously), and I received it at the beginning of July. The customer support team was very kind and helpful, they followed the order all the way through and above all had the thoughtfulness to ship it…
