The story behind the blade
The Ancient Spartan Sword of King Leonidas is a faithful replica of the xiphos — the iconic leaf-shaped short sword carried by Lacedaemonian hoplites, most famously by Leonidas I and his 300 warriors at the Battle of Thermopylae (480 BC). It features a double-edged blade tapering to an acute point, a bone or wood guard, and a simple spherical pommel.
This historic replica brings to life the arms of Classical Greece, popularized by Zack Snyder’s film 300 (2007). A Spartan sword appreciated by cosplayers of Leonidas and the 300, by historical reenactors of the Battle of Thermopylae, and by collectors decorating Ancient Greece-themed spaces. It pairs beautifully with a decorated aspis shield bearing the Spartan lambda (Λ) and the king’s purple cloak.

How to care for your blade
After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.
Is this sword sharpened?
Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.

Carrying it in public is restricted by state and local laws: a sword is considered a bladed weapon, and transporting it outside your home without a legitimate reason (event, training, transport to a club) may be subject to local regulations. Our pieces ship in a scabbard and protective packaging suitable for initial transport from our warehouse to your home.
