In the classical texts of Chinese and Japanese landscape painting, souun is the great cloud that frames the peaks of sacred mountains: a blue-tinged, weightless formation that divides the earthly plane from the celestial. The Katana Souun draws on this motif in the tones of its fittings and in the blade’s finish.
The 1060 carbon steel blade is finished with a polish that develops pale blue reflections under diffused light. Nagasa approximately 70 cm, hardness 58–60 HRC, chu-kissaki tip geometry characteristic of the Bizen school. Hand-sharpened.
The fittings palette is consistent with the celestial theme: sky-blue ito braided over light samegawa, a light-alloy tsuba engraved with stylized cloud motifs (kumo pattern), a powder-blue lacquered saya with a cloud-white sageo, and a brushed-silver habaki.
Recommended for collectors who prefer luminous palettes over severe ones — a natural choice for high-ceilinged rooms with large windows, and well received by practitioners of calligraphy or sumi-e ink painting. A katana that lingers in the eye, like a cloud.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
