The reizan — “sacred mountains” — are the Japanese peaks devoted to Buddhist-Shinto pilgrimage. Fuji, Tateyama, Hakusan: the three Sanrei are still traveled today by yamabushi and pilgrims in traditional dress. The Katana Reizan pays tribute to this tradition of sacred high-altitude journeying.
The 1060 carbon steel blade (nagasa approximately 27.5 in., 58–60 HRC hardness) is finished with a satin surface that reflects blue-gray tones, like a distant summit seen from a mountain pasture. A notable detail: the tsuka is wrapped over genuine ray skin (samegawa), whose natural texture recalls the volcanic pebbles of mountain trails.
The fittings complete the alpine palette: stone-gray ito over authentic samegawa, a patinated iron tsuba with a triangular peak and cloud motif, a saya lacquered in pale gray with moss-green gradients, and white sageo. Burnished brass habaki.
A display piece for hikers and mountaineers, well suited to chalets and stone-wall interiors, and a meaningful gift for anyone who has completed a classic Buddhist pilgrimage circuit. A katana that brings the thin air of high altitude into your home.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
