The story behind the blade

The iconography of the angel — a figure between the human and the divine, bearing broad wings and its own luminosity — runs through centuries of Christian art, and finds resonance in modern East Asian aesthetics as well. The Angel Wing Katana sharpened edition is a replica built around this angelic imagery: white, luminous, winged in its details.

The T10 steel blade (hardness 60–62 HRC, nagasa approximately 70 cm) features an exceptionally deep mirror polish, resembling the reflection of a white feather against a bright sky. The pronounced sori curvature evokes the arched profile of an outstretched wing.

The fittings embrace the angelic palette: tsuka wrapped in snow-white ito over very light samegawa, silver patina tsuba engraved with a stylized feather motif, saya lacquered in pure white with golden shading (the halo), white sageo, and burnished silver habaki with gold highlights.

How to care for your blade

After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.

Is this sword sharpened?

Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.
