The Kirin (or Qilin in the Chinese tradition) is a mythical hybrid creature: the body of a deer, the tail of an ox, the mane of a lion, curved horns, and dragon scales. According to tradition, it appears only in kingdoms ruled by a just sovereign, or at the birth of a great sage — it is said to have appeared at the birth of Confucius. It is a symbol of peace, prosperity, and auspicious presence. The Katana Kirin honors this creature of the mythology of blessing.
The Damascus steel blade (nagasa approximately 27.5 in., 58–60 HRC hardness) displays layered patterns reminiscent of the Kirin’s mythical scaled coat. Traditional hand-polished finish.
The fittings carry the creature’s colors: camel-colored ito over samegawa, a bronze tsuba engraved with a curved-horn and deer-hoof motif, a saya lacquered in bark brown with golden gradients, and tobacco-colored sageo. Burnished gold habaki.
A display piece for admirers of comparative mythology, suited to harmonious interiors, and a gift for anyone seeking an auspicious symbol — for a wedding, a housewarming, or a significant anniversary. A katana that carries within itself a promise of peace.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
