Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Companion to the yuunagi, the asanagi is the morning stillness of the sea — the moment before the daytime breezes rise, when the water lies flat as glass and the sun begins to illuminate its surface. The two words are often paired in haiku poetry to mark the two still points of the day. The Katana Asanagi captures that quality of morning light on water.
The 1095 carbon steel blade (hardness 62–64 HRC, nagasa approximately 70 cm) is finished with a mirror polish that reflects subtle blue-white hues — the first light on the sea at dawn.
The fittings embrace an aurora palette: pale blue ito over light samegawa, a light-alloy tsuba engraved with a rising sun at the horizon, a pearl-white lacquered saya with blue gradients, and antique-rose sageo. Silver-patinated habaki.
A natural companion to the Katana Yuunagi for collectors who want to pair both moments of the day, a statement display piece for east-facing rooms with large windows, or a thoughtful gift for morning yoga practitioners and admirers of luminous color palettes. A katana that brings the first light on the ocean into your home.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
