Akizora is the Japanese October sky: high, an intense blue found in no other season, crossed by thin cirrocumulus clouds like brushstrokes of shodō calligraphy. It is the favored season for momijigari, the viewing of maple leaves. The Katana Akizora draws its character from this distinctly autumnal luminosity.
The blade, in 1060 carbon steel (nagasa of approximately 70 cm, hardness 58-60 HRC), is enriched by an authentic undulating hamon reminiscent of mountain ridgelines against a clear sky. Differential hardening — in which the edge is made harder while the spine remains more flexible — leaves this undulating line permanently visible.
The fittings bring autumn blue to the tsuka: cobalt-blue ito over light samegawa, dark alloy tsuba with chasing of maple leaves falling against a sky backdrop, sapphire-blue lacquered saya with small ochre dots (autumn leaves in the distance), burnt-orange sageo. Burnished gold habaki.
A piece appreciated by those who travel Japan in October, for decorating country homes or mountain cabins, and a gift for shodō practitioners or mountain hikers. A katana that brings the splendor of the Tateyama in autumn into your home.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
