Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
The shiranui is a luminous phenomenon that has appeared off the coasts of Kyushu on summer nights for centuries: tongues of light dancing on the surface of the sea, once attributed to marine spirits. The Katana Shiranui takes its name from this because its blade, in 1060 carbon steel, reflects light with glimmers that recall those apparitions.
The mirror-polished blade (58–60 HRC hardness, nagasa of approximately 70 cm) captures every light source and returns it with pale blue undertones. The sori curvature is moderate, classical of the late-feudal tachi, and the tip geometry follows the chu-kissaki canon.
The fittings complete the palette: densely braided midnight-blue ito on the handle, iron tsuba with a stylized flame chasing, lacquered black scabbard with bluish highlights, coordinated sageo. The burnished copper habaki breaks the chromatic scheme with a warm tone, like lamplight in the half-dark.
An ideal display piece for living rooms with subdued lighting, mystical-maritime-themed studies, and collectors’ showcases that appreciate replicas with Japanese folkloric overtones. A katana that makes the most of every candle.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
