Amber is fossilized resin: the sap of trees that lived millions of years ago, mineralized, trapped. Held in the hand it is warm, as if it still holds the heat of the forest that produced it. The Katana Kohaku pursues that same effect through its gold finish on 1095 carbon steel.
1095 is an ultra-high-carbon steel (0.95%) that allows edge hardness up to 64 HRC. The gilding process is not a paint coat: it is a noble-metal deposition on the tempered surface, which preserves the grain of the underlying steel. Nagasa approximately 70 cm, defined kissaki.
The fittings accompany the theme with warm elegance: honey-colored ito on genuine samegawa, bronze tsuba chased with a vortex motif (a reference to inclusions trapped in amber), scabbard lacquered in warm brown with caramel-toned highlights, ochre sageo. Burnished gold habaki.
A display piece for refined collectors’ showcases, ideal for dark-toned rooms where gold stands out best, and a gift for enthusiasts of mineralogy and gemology. A katana that carries the color of crystallized time.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
