The concept of ryusui, “flowing water,” is central to Zen philosophy and Japanese contemplative arts: water adapts to every form, never resists directly, and for that very reason eventually shapes even stone. The Katana Ryusui is a replica built around that metaphor of fluidity.
The 1060 carbon steel blade (58–60 HRC hardness, nagasa approximately 70 cm) is polished to emphasize visual fluidity: no sharp contrasts, only gradients that blend along the ridge. The sori curve is pronounced, almost evoking the arc of a long wave.
The fittings favor continuous lines: river-gray ito braided over samegawa, a teardrop-shaped tsuba with a whirlpool motif (a reference to mountain-river pools), a black lacquered saya with steel-blue undertones, and a light-gray sageo. Habaki in patinated silver.
A piece that works particularly well in minimalist settings, reading rooms, or spaces oriented toward Zen practice. Well suited as décor for calligraphy or tea-ceremony practitioners, or as a gift for someone who has visited a karesansui garden.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
