Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Spices traveled for millennia along the Silk Road routes, reaching Japan via Nagasaki: black pepper from Malabar, cinnamon from Ceylon, Persian saffron. Each spice carried with it colors, aromas, and traditions that blended into the kitchens of samurai and shoguns. The Katana Spice captures this exotic atmosphere in a replica built around warm tones.
The forged steel blade features a warm copper finish, a thermal patina reminiscent of burnished copper or the tin vessels used in old spice shops. Nagasa of approximately 70 cm, hardness 58-60 HRC, hand-finished kissaki. The surface catches the light with shades that range from leather to cinnamon.
The fittings extend the spice theme throughout: saffron-colored ito braided over dark samegawa, bronze tsuba chased with a star anise motif (eight regular points), caramel-brown lacquered saya with ochre striations, paprika-red sageo. Copper-toned bronze habaki.
A piece for interiors with warm tones, mahogany-shelved libraries, and a gift for Asian fusion cooks or rare spice collectors. A katana that brings the scent of an Asian New Year market into your home.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
