Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
The pearl (shinju) holds a special place in Japanese history: in Mie Prefecture, the ama — women divers who free-dive to depths of up to 65 feet — harvested pearl oysters for centuries. Mikimoto Kokichi, a native of Ise, invented the modern cultured pearl in 1893. The Katana Shinju pays tribute to this maritime tradition.
The carbon steel 1060 blade (58–60 HRC, nagasa approximately 27.5 in.) is finished with an iridescent polish that produces white-blue-pink reflections similar to the surface of a natural pearl. Delicate sori curvature.
The fittings develop the pearlescent palette: cream-toned ito over very light samegawa, a patinated silver-alloy tsuba with an open-oyster motif, a pearl-white lacquered saya with sea-blue gradients, and powder-pink sageo. Burnished silver habaki.
A piece for gemology enthusiasts and admirers of refined aesthetics, a display accent for elegant interiors or boutique showcases, and a memorable gift for anyone who has visited the Mikimoto Pearl Island Museum in Toba or who collects historic Japanese jewelry. A katana with the refinement of a rare shell.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
