Inazuma is the summer lightning bolt — the electrical discharge that crosses the sky in a fraction of a second before the thunder follows. Farmers long considered it a beneficial phenomenon, as it “fertilizes” rice paddies by depositing atmospheric nitrogen (etymologically, inazuma means “wife of the rice”). The Katana Inazuma embodies this quality of luminous discharge.
The blue Damascus steel blade features a patina that shifts to a metallic blue, with silver reflections that traverse the surface like instantaneous discharges. Nagasa approximately 27.5 in., 58–60 HRC.
The fittings embrace the storm theme: navy-blue ito braided over dark samegawa, a dark-alloy tsuba with a lightning zigzag motif, a deep blue-black lacquered saya with silver flashes through the lacquer (the effect of distant lightning), and cobalt-blue sageo. Burnished silver habaki.
A piece for storm enthusiasts and admirers of dramatic weather, a display accent for rooms with bold lighting, and a gift for landscape photographers who work with summer storms or for those drawn to meteorological mythology. A katana that holds the instant of the discharge.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
