Sango, coral, has a long history of prestige in Japan: red Mediterranean coral arrived via China along the maritime Silk Road and was used for the jewelry of Heian court ladies. Local coral, in pink-orange tones, came from the waters of Kochi (Shikoku) and was carved for hair ornaments. The Katana Sango captures that precious marine quality.
The T10 steel blade (60–62 HRC hardness, nagasa approximately 70 cm) carries an authentic hamon. The tsuka is wrapped over genuine rayskin (authentic samegawa), a direct reference to the marine world from which coral also comes.
The fittings adopt the coral-pink palette: coral-pink ito over authentic samegawa, a bronze tsuba chiseled with a coral-branch motif (branching structure), a saya lacquered in deep pink with copper-toned gradients, and salmon sageo. Copper-toned habaki.
A display piece for interiors with warm marine palettes, a decorative accent for rooms with aquatic references, and a gift for admirers of historical jewelry or for those who have visited Kochi. A katana that carries the warmth of Japan’s tropical waters within it.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
