The story behind the blade

The Sword of Guinegate, also known as “The Peaceful Alliance of Arms,” is a replica of a 15th-century French sword evoking the Battles of Guinegate of 1479 and 1513 (the Battle of the Spurs). Long double-edged blade, classic straight crossguard, disc pommel.

A medieval sword from the transition between the late Middle Ages and the military Renaissance, carried by knights of the French companies of the 15th century. Prized by reenactors of the Hundred Years’ War and the Italian Wars of Charles VIII and Louis XII, cosplayers of the Chevalier Bayard (Pierre Terrail), and collectors of late medieval French chivalry. A refined piece for those who study the turning point between feudal warfare and early modern combat.

Intended for collection, display, and decoration only. Not designed for functional use (combat, cutting, sparring, or martial training).

Frequently asked questions

How to care for your blade
After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.
Is this sword sharpened?
Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.
What are the shipping times?
Ships within 7 business days for in-stock items. If the item is on preorder, the expected date is shown at the top of the page.
Can I return my order?
Yes, you have 30 days from delivery to return it.
Is it legal to own a sword?
Yes — owning a sword in your home is perfectly legal in the United States, whether for collection, decoration, historical reenactment, or sport practice (HEMA). Carrying it in public is restricted by state and local laws: a sword is considered a bladed weapon, and transporting it outside your home without a legitimate reason (event, training, transport to a club) may be subject to local regulations. Our pieces ship in a scabbard and protective packaging suitable for initial transport from our warehouse to your home.
Is payment secure?
Yes, completely. Our store is protected by an SSL certificate (https://) that encrypts all communications between your browser and our site. Payments are processed directly by Stripe and PayPal — we never have access to your card details (card number, CVV, expiration date). Your information is shared only between you and the payment processor, never through our servers.
