The story behind the blade

Wind Pillar. Scars across his face. Rare blood (marechi) that drives demons wild. Sanemi Shinazugawa is the most aggressive Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps, and his nichirin reflects that.

Blade: Sharpened acid green, jade-bright. The kanji of Wind Breathing are engraved in gold along the shinogi.
Tsuba: Shaped as a white pinwheel with green tips — Sanemi’s personal mark, symbol of severed winds.
Saya: Black with white fur-patterned motifs, echoing the character’s black-and-white cloak.
Tsuka: Black ito over light samegawa — a firm, aggressive grip.
Steel: 1060 carbon, 56–58 HRC, traditional forging.

The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.

Tempering

The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.

Polishing

The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.

How to care for your blade

After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.

Is this sword sharpened?

Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.
