The raikiri — literally “lightning cutter” — is one of the most celebrated blades in Japanese history: according to folklore, Tachibana Dosetsu (1513–1585), general of the Otomo clan, struck with it the lightning bolt that threatened to fell him during a rainstorm, saving his life. The Katana Raikiri carries the name of this legendary blade.
The Damascus steel blade with authentic hamon displays a dual working signature: the Damascus layers beneath the surface and the undulating differential hardening line above. An effect that genuinely evokes a bolt of lightning crossing the sky. Nagasa approximately 27.5 in., 58–60 HRC.
The fittings carry the lightning theme: navy-blue ito over samegawa, a dark-alloy tsuba with a stylized triple-zigzag lightning motif, a black lacquered saya with vivid blue flashes, and lead-gray sageo. Patinated silver habaki.
A piece for samurai history enthusiasts — the Otomo and Mori clans are central figures in the Sengoku historical cycles — a display accent for rooms with dramatic lighting, and a gift for those who prefer replicas rooted in documented legend. A katana that carries a historical anecdote within its steel.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
