Komorebi is a Japanese word with no concise English equivalent: it describes sunlight filtering through foliage, creating shifting patterns of light and shadow on the forest floor. It is among the most admired terms in linguistics for its poetic precision. The Katana Komorebi is built to evoke that woodland atmosphere.
Manganese steel, less common in Western replicas, has a fine grain and a naturally dark tone. After polishing, the blade displays hues ranging from charcoal gray to greenish gray, reminiscent of a rain-wet beech trunk. Nagasa approximately 70 cm, hardness 58–60 HRC.
The fittings carry the forest palette: moss-green ito over light samegawa (the effect resembles lichen-covered bark), a patinated iron tsuba with an overlapping-leaf motif, a deep-green lacquered saya with gray reflections in the finish ripples, and an earth-tone sageo. Habaki in patinated copper.
A replica for collectors drawn to a woodland aesthetic or a connection with Japan’s rural landscapes — ideal in living spaces with abundant houseplants, or as a gift for lovers of forest walks and shinrin-yoku (forest bathing). A katana that brings the light of the understory indoors.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
