Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
The Hagakure is one of the founding texts of samurai thought: a collection of aphorisms and meditations dictated in the early 18th century by Yamamoto Tsunetomo, a former retainer of the Nabeshima clan who had retired among the forest leaves (hence the title, “hidden in the leaves”). The Katana Hagakure is a direct tribute to that meditative tradition.
The blade, in 1060 carbon steel, is built to classical standards: nagasa approximately 70 cm, hardness 58–60 HRC, natural sori curvature produced during quenching. No unusual decorations, no experimental steels—only the essential form that Tsunetomo would have recognized.
The fittings reflect the text’s sobriety: leaf-green cotton ito on samegawa, forged iron tsuba with a stylized maple leaf motif (an echo of the title), scabbard in dark green lacquered wood evoking the darkness of the undergrowth where Tsunetomo dictated his words. Coordinated sageo.
A replica conceived for readers of the Hagakure, scholars of samurai philosophy, decorators of libraries oriented toward Japanese culture, or as a gift for someone on an inner journey inspired by bushido. A katana that evokes a page more than a gesture.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
