The story behind the blade

The Conan the Barbarian Sword evokes the Atlantean Sword wielded by Conan in John Milius’s cult film Conan the Barbarian (1982), portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger and inspired by Robert E. Howard’s stories from 1932. The long double-edged blade is crafted from high-carbon 1085 steel, with a stylized dragon-shaped crossguard and a pommel decorated with barbaric motifs.

How to care for your blade

After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.

Is this sword sharpened?

Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.

Is it legal to own a sword?

Carrying it in public is restricted by state and local laws: a sword is considered a bladed weapon, and transporting it outside your home without a legitimate reason (event, training, transport to a club) may be subject to local regulations. Our pieces ship in a scabbard and protective packaging suitable for initial transport from our warehouse to your home.

The sword matches the photos and descriptions seen on other sites. The only thing that doesn't match the photos is the blackened bronze part, apparently the manufacturer makes it that way, but with a good polishing it comes back to how it should be (the attached photos show the difference, I couldn't finish for lack of materials but I've ordered…
