The story behind the blade

Above Kagoshima Bay stands the Sakurajima volcano, still active, which for centuries has shaped the identity of the prefecture and the spirit of its people. The Wakizashi Kagoshima is born under this sign of fire: a T10 steel blade whose hardness mirrors the intensity of volcanic stone.

T10 steel is particularly valued for premium reproductions: high carbon content (1.0%) combined with tungsten addition delivers edge hardness up to 62 HRC while maintaining a compact, resilient structure. The nagasa is approximately 20 inches, the blade is entirely hand-sharpened, and the polished finish reflects light the way cooled lava catches the sun.

The fittings step away from restraint and embrace a touch of drama: iron tsuba with motifs reminiscent of fire waves, dark red ito braided over genuine samegawa, black saya with terracotta red undertones. A dusty rose sageo provides a soft counterpoint to the composition.

A wakizashi for collectors who appreciate T10 steel and elemental themes, a perfect complement to a katana sharing the same color palette, a display piece on a dark wood stand, or a gift for enthusiasts of Japanese volcanic geography. A blade that carries the warmth of Sakurajima within it.

Frequently asked questions

How to care for your blade
After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.
Is this sword sharpened?
Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.
What are the shipping times?
Ships within 7 business days for in-stock items. If the item is on preorder, the expected date is shown at the top of the page.
Can I return my order?
Yes, you have 30 days from delivery to return it.
Is it legal to own a sword?
Yes — owning a sword in your home is perfectly legal in the United States, whether for collection, decoration, historical reenactment, or sport practice (HEMA). Carrying it in public is restricted by state and local laws: a sword is considered a bladed weapon, and transporting it outside your home without a legitimate reason (event, training, transport to a club) may be subject to local regulations. Our pieces ship in a scabbard and protective packaging suitable for initial transport from our warehouse to your home.
Is payment secure?
Yes, completely. Our store is protected by an SSL certificate (https://) that encrypts all communications between your browser and our site. Payments are processed directly by Stripe and PayPal — we never have access to your card details (card number, CVV, expiration date). Your information is shared only between you and the payment processor, never through our servers.
