Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
The word sazanami appears in the waka poetry of the Heian period to describe the small ripples that cross a lake’s surface at sunset. Poets cherished it because it designates something delicate, transient, almost whispered. The Katana Sazanami carries this name with the same intention: no clamor, only a subtle movement.
The 1060 carbon steel blade features a slightly irregular satin finish that, seen up close, recalls the refractions on still water. Blade length approximately 70 cm, hardness 58–60 HRC, classical balance of the Bizen-school katana. Hand-finished chu-kissaki tip.
The fittings follow the same logic of restrained sensitivity: water-blue ito braided over samegawa, dark-alloy tsuba with a three-concentric-circles motif (the ripples spreading from a dropped stone), scabbard lacquered in pale blue with silver undertones, coordinated sageo. Soberly polished brass habaki.
A perfect replica for minimalist studies, showcases for lovers of classical Japanese poetry, and meditative or tea-room spaces. A katana for those who prefer the whisper to the shout, the ripple to the waterfall.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
