Hisame is the rain that falls when the temperature is about to drop below freezing: drops that turn to sleet on the ground, ice forming on the branches. It is a hard, cutting word. The Katana Hisame transfers this winter intensity into its red Damascus steel, a treatment that shifts the blade’s patina toward a deep burgundy.
Red Damascus is achieved by combining multiple steel layers with a controlled thermal oxidation process, producing red-gray patterns that recall the skin of a split pomegranate. The edge (58–60 HRC) is hand-sharpened, and the nagasa measures approximately 70 cm.
The fittings pair contrast with drama: purple-red ito on dark samegawa, black iron tsuba with a bare-branches motif, scabbard lacquered in black with burgundy glints in the finish, coordinated sageo. Burnished copper habaki.
A replica for dark environments, collectors’ showcases that appreciate intense palettes and dramatically styled pieces, and winter living rooms with low lighting. A katana that brings January rain indoors.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
