In noh theater texts, tsukikage — “moon shadow” or “moonlit reflection” — is a recurring image for evoking the intangible presence of the departed: that which is seen but cannot be touched, that which exists as light without a body. The Katana Tsukikage gathers that quality of spectral presence.
The T10 steel blade (nagasa approximately 70 cm, hardness 60–62 HRC) is finished with a misty polish that projects milky reflections under indirect light — an effect reminiscent of a moonbeam passing through frosted glass.
The fittings embrace lunar chiaroscuro: smoke-gray ito over samegawa, a dark-alloy tsuba with a three-phase moon motif (crescent, full, waning), a matte-black lacquered saya that lightens toward the koiguchi (an effect of light falling from above), and a silver sageo. Habaki in burnished silver.
A replica for home theaters, libraries with sheer curtains, or rooms used for nighttime meditation. Appreciated by those familiar with noh theater, by readers of Heian-period literature, or by admirers of Murakami’s more lyrical work (Kafka on the Shore, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World). A katana that is seen without quite existing.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
