In the epic novel Nansō Satomi Hakkenden by Kyokutei Bakin (1814-1842), the Murasame is a legendary blade that dripped water from its surface. The name literally means “village rain” — that sudden, intense rain that passes through a hamlet in just a few minutes. The Katana Murasame draws on this literary legacy.
The blade, in 1095 carbon steel (hardness 62-64 HRC, nagasa of approximately 70 cm), carries an authentic hamon produced by differential hardening. The undulating temper line truly evokes the path of water droplets on glass: irregular waves, shifting reflections, an organic quality that no chemical etching can replicate.
The fittings accompany the rain theme: lead-gray ito over genuine samegawa, iron tsuba worked with a water-droplet motif, storm-blue lacquered saya with silver reflections that simulate falling rain, light-gray sageo. Burnished silver habaki.
A piece for enthusiasts of classical Japanese literature, for those decorating melancholic studies, and a gift for readers who prefer Bakin to Kawabata. The Hakkenden spans 106 volumes — the Murasame katana makes a worthy companion for those who undertake the reading.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
