Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
The suzune is the sound of small metal bells hung at the entrance of Shinto shrines: visitors ring them by pulling a rope to call the kami’s attention and announce their presence. It is a brief, clear sound that cuts through the sacred silence of the precinct. The Katana Suzune evokes this quality of gentle invitation.
The 1060 carbon steel blade (hardness 58-60 HRC, nagasa of approximately 70 cm) is finished with a mirror polish that amplifies the reflection of light, like the bright bronze of the bells. Natural sori curvature, hand-finished kissaki.
The fittings pair silver and light wood like a torii frame: ivory-colored ito over light samegawa, silver tsuba chased with a small bell (suzu) motif, natural-finish light wood lacquered saya, vermilion sageo (the classic red of torii gates). Patinated silver habaki.
A piece for those who have visited Shinto shrines on their travels, for decorating home altars, a gift for morning meditation practitioners, or a display piece for enthusiasts of sacred iconography. A katana that calls for attention without raising its voice.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
