The yamabuki is the Japanese kerria — a shrub bearing deep-yellow flowers that grows wild on Japanese mountainsides and blooms in April. Its yellow was regarded as “botanical gold” and associated with the samurai class for its combination of brilliance and resilience. The Katana Yamabuki channels this luminous quality.
The T10 steel blade (60–62 HRC hardness, nagasa approximately 27.5 in.) is polished to a deep finish that contrasts well with the vivid colors of the fittings. Sharp sori curvature.
The fittings embrace the solar yellow: saffron-yellow ito over dark samegawa, a bronze tsuba engraved with a five-petal corolla (the classic kerria flower), a saya lacquered in brilliant gold-yellow with ochre gradients, and mustard-colored sageo. Burnished gold habaki.
An ideal display piece for brightly decorated interiors with abundant natural light where the yellow can truly glow, and a gift for anyone who has visited Kyoto’s gardens in April. A katana that brings the sunshine of Japanese spring into your home.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
