The story behind the blade

The Shusui is one of the 21 O Wazamono swords of One Piece, and for centuries served as the national treasure of the Land of Wano. Zoro acquires it during his time on the island of the dead, after passing the test of the ghost of the samurai Ryuma. Recognizable by its black blade (kokuto) and the saya with its signature golden skull motif, the Shusui is one of the most iconic weapons in Eiichiro Oda’s manga. The Katana Shusui is a faithful replica of this legendary blade.

The carbon steel 1060 blade (58–60 HRC, nagasa approximately 27.5 in.) features a dark patina that reproduces the kokuto appearance of the original Shusui: deep black, minimal reflection, as though the blade has absorbed the darkness of decades of historical flashbacks in the manga.

The fittings follow the One Piece design: the tsuka wrapped in black ito over samegawa, a dark-alloy tsuba with a stylized floral motif, a black lacquered saya with golden skull designs (the Shusui’s signature pattern), and black sageo. Burnished brass habaki.

An iconic piece for One Piece fans — especially those who followed the Wano arc and appreciated the story of Ryuma and Zoro — an ideal complement for Zoro Wano-style cosplay, and a display piece for pirate-themed collector spaces. A katana that carries within it the history of an entire nation of samurai.

Every blade, three stages

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.

01

Forging

The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.

02

Tempering

The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.

03

Polishing

The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.

Frequently asked questions

How to care for your blade
After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.
Is this sword sharpened?
Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.
What are the shipping times?
Ships within 7 business days for in-stock items. If the item is on preorder, the expected date is shown at the top of the page.
Can I return my order?
Yes, you have 30 days from delivery to return it.
Is it legal to own a sword?
Yes — owning a sword in your home is perfectly legal in the United States, whether for collection, decoration, historical reenactment, or sport practice (HEMA). Carrying it in public is restricted by state and local laws: a sword is considered a bladed weapon, and transporting it outside your home without a legitimate reason (event, training, transport to a club) may be subject to local regulations. Our pieces ship in a scabbard and protective packaging suitable for initial transport from our warehouse to your home.
Is payment secure?
Yes, completely. Our store is protected by an SSL certificate (https://) that encrypts all communications between your browser and our site. Payments are processed directly by Stripe and PayPal — we never have access to your card details (card number, CVV, expiration date). Your information is shared only between you and the payment processor, never through our servers.
