Night is not the absence of light — it is a different kind of light: the kind that lets you see stars, the silhouettes of furniture against a wall, the reflection of a candle on steel. The Katana Night is built around this nocturnal quality, and its most defining feature is the black blade: a permanent patina treatment that shifts the surface color toward a deep, uniform black while preserving the texture of the steel beneath.
The carbon steel 1060 (58–60 HRC, nagasa approximately 27.5 in.) is finished with an even thermal dark patina: the blade retains its internal flexibility and hardness but absorbs light rather than reflecting it — a visually rare effect among Japanese replicas available in the United States.
The fittings consistently embrace the nocturnal theme: black ito over dark samegawa (the darkest combination possible), a plain patinated iron tsuba without ornamentation, a fully matte-black urushi-lacquered saya, and black sageo. Burnished iron habaki.
A piece for those who favor monochromatic palettes and replicas of absolute character, a display accent for rooms with dramatic lighting or contemporary minimalist interiors, and a gift for admirers of dark aesthetics or black-and-white design. A katana that exists, above all, as shadow.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
