The story behind the blade

The Scottish basket-hilted broadsword is the emblematic weapon of the Scottish Highlands from the 17th–18th century, carried by Jacobite clan warriors during the rebellions of 1715 and 1745. Wide double-edged blade, hand-crafted brass basket guard protecting the hand, black leather grip.

A historically significant piece for Jacobite war reenactments, Outlander cosplay (Jamie Fraser), and Celtic-Scottish themed study decor. It pairs elegantly with a kilt, tartan waistcoat, and black or brown leather scabbard. The brass basket guard is one of the most distinctive features of Scottish armoring tradition, celebrated today at Highland clan festivals such as the Braemar Gathering. An equally strong choice for historical cinema cosplay (Rob Roy, Outlander).

Intended for collection, display, and decoration only. Not designed for functional use (combat, cutting, sparring, or martial training).

Frequently asked questions

How to care for your blade
After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.
Is this sword sharpened?
Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.
What are the shipping times?
Ships within 7 business days for in-stock items. If the item is on preorder, the expected date is shown at the top of the page.
Can I return my order?
Yes, you have 30 days from delivery to return it.
Is it legal to own a sword?
Yes — owning a sword in your home is perfectly legal in the United States, whether for collection, decoration, historical reenactment, or sport practice (HEMA). Carrying it in public is restricted by state and local laws: a sword is considered a bladed weapon, and transporting it outside your home without a legitimate reason (event, training, transport to a club) may be subject to local regulations. Our pieces ship in a scabbard and protective packaging suitable for initial transport from our warehouse to your home.
Is payment secure?
Yes, completely. Our store is protected by an SSL certificate (https://) that encrypts all communications between your browser and our site. Payments are processed directly by Stripe and PayPal — we never have access to your card details (card number, CVV, expiration date). Your information is shared only between you and the payment processor, never through our servers.
