Backbone of the Roman Army
The gladius was the defining weapon of the Roman legionary — short enough for close-quarters fighting in the shield wall, long enough to reach past an enemy’s guard. Centurions carried it on the right hip, a mark of rank as much as function. This hand-forged replica in high-carbon steel honors that legacy with a blade ground to historical proportions and a grip sized for combat use.
Suitable for HEMA sparring, reenactment events, or as a display centerpiece. Each piece is individually finished and ships with a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard.

How to care for your blade
After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.
Is this sword sharpened?
Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.

Carrying it in public is restricted by state and local laws: a sword is considered a bladed weapon, and transporting it outside your home without a legitimate reason (event, training, transport to a club) may be subject to local regulations. Our pieces ship in a scabbard and protective packaging suitable for initial transport from our warehouse to your home.
