Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Yukimura literally means “snow village”: the villages of Japan’s northern prefectures that every winter disappear under six or seven meters of snow, where the gassho-zukuri thatched roofs of Shirakawa-go are designed specifically to let the white mantle slide off. It is also, by poetic coincidence, the name of a celebrated strategist of the Sengoku period (Sanada Yukimura). The Katana Yukimura embraces this dual legacy.
The blade in 1060 carbon steel (nagasa of approximately 70 cm, hardness 58-60 HRC) is finished with a light satin polish evoking the packed snow on winter rooftops. The sori curvature is clean and pronounced, almost echoing the arc of traditional rooftops bowed under white weight.
The fittings draw on the palette of northern villages: charcoal-gray ito over samegawa, patinated iron tsuba with a pointed-roof house motif (the gassho houses), cream-white lacquered saya with dark gray patches recalling exposed black timber beams, smoke-gray sageo. Matte silver habaki.
A piece for admirers of traditional Japanese village aesthetics, for decorating country homes or mountain chalets, and a gift for those who have visited Shirakawa-go or read historical novels about the Sanada. A katana that brings the silence of the winter north into your home.

The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
