Medieval Heavy Cotton Skirt “Smilla”
The “Smilla” skirt takes its name from Peter Høeg’s Nordic classic, capturing the resilience of the far north in a dense, structured fabric. Ankle-length and shape-retaining, it was built for cold-weather reenactment seasons. Pairs with tall lined boots and a heavy cloak.

The story behind the blade
“Smilla” is a Greenlandic and Scandinavian name made famous by Peter Høeg’s novel Smilla’s Sense of Snow (1992). It evokes the far north and lands of perpetual cold. This heavy cotton skirt adopts that same winter-ready durability.
Dense cotton that holds its shape, mid-rise waist, moderate volume, ankle-length hem. Suited to the colder months of reenactment, when lightweight skirts are inadequate.
Worn at medieval Christmas markets, Nordic reconstructions (Norway, Iceland, Sweden), and cosplay of far-northern characters. Pairs with tall lined boots and a heavy cloak.
Available sizes: S/M, L/XL, 2XL, 3XL
