In the transitional months between summer and autumn, a dense asagiri forms at dawn over the highland lakes of Hakone and Nikko, rising from the water and dissolving by mid-morning. For a brief time, every landscape softens and every outline blurs. The Katana Asagiri is built to capture that sensation of suspension.
T10 steel, rich in tungsten, offers a compact structure well suited to matte finishes. The blade (60–62 HRC hardness, nagasa approximately 70 cm) has a nebulized polish that diffuses light rather than reflecting it sharply — an effect consistent with the mist theme.
The fittings employ soft, diffused gray-pearl tones: misty-gray ito braided over light samegawa, a patinated silver-alloy tsuba engraved with veiled mountain peaks, a smoke-gray lacquered saya with a cream-white sageo. The habaki is in brushed silver.
A piece for environments that play with diffused light, display cases near north-facing windows, and décor appreciated by those who have traveled to the onsen of Hakone or Nikko. An equally thoughtful gift for a friend who loves landscape painting and contemplative meditation.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
