The umikaze is the open-sea wind — briny, felt on the deck of a vessel or along the exposed coastlines of Japanese peninsulas. It carries the scent of seaweed and salt rain, and it has shaped the traditional architecture of fishing villages for centuries. The Katana Umikaze translates this coastal quality into a display piece.
The T10 steel blade (60–62 HRC hardness, nagasa approximately 27.5 in.) is polished to an opalescent finish that shifts toward blue-green under certain light, evoking the color of the ocean near rocky shores. Pronounced sori curvature.
The fittings echo the colors of the sea: navy-blue ito over samegawa, a dark alloy tsuba with a stylized anchor motif, a saya lacquered in sea-green with blue gradients, and sand-colored sageo. Burnished copper habaki.
A piece well suited to coastal homes or city apartments near the water, a gift for sport fishermen or sailors, and a decorative accent for nautically themed living spaces. A katana that calls the open horizon directly into the room.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
