Forging
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
The name Rong Wu evokes the Chinese metallurgical tradition that preceded and influenced Japan’s for centuries: the transmission of bronze — and later steel — reached Japan through Korea, primarily between the 5th and 8th centuries. The Katana Rong Wu pays tribute to this continental heritage.
The blade follows a traditional Japanese katana profile with a sori curve, yet its craftsmanship displays Chinese stylistic influences in the tsuba and saya. Nagasa approximately 70 cm.
The fittings carry a transitional palette: deep bordeaux ito (a reference to Chinese imperial purple) braided over dark rayskin, bronze tsuba chiseled with a four-clawed Chinese dragon motif (distinct from the three-clawed Japanese dragon), black lacquered saya with gold decorative details, copper sageo. Burnished gold habaki.
For enthusiasts of trans-Asian history, hybrid Eastern interior design, or collectors interested in the spread of metallurgy across the Far East — a katana that carries within it a trace of a very long history of exchange.

Time-honored craft. Masterful gesture. A one-of-a-kind, hand-forged piece built to last.
The blade takes shape beneath the hammer. Each layer of steel is folded and re-welded under heat to create a core that is both strong and flexible.
The steel is brought to high temperature, then quenched rapidly: this fast cooling hardens the edge and reveals the hamon, the wavy line that runs along the blade.
The smith hand-polishes the blade with natural stones of increasing grit, revealing its luster, its edge, and the soul of the steel.
Each blade is crafted by master artisans according to traditional forging techniques.
