The story behind the blade

The William Wallace Sword — the Claymore of Scotland’s national hero (1270–1305) — is the iconic two-handed blade of the Highlands, long, powerful, and unmistakable with its descending quillon guard and quatrefoil terminals. Wallace wielded it during the Scottish Wars of Independence before his capture and execution in 1305.

How to care for your blade

After every use, wipe the blade with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Carbon steel reacts to humidity and the natural acids on your skin: a light coat of mineral oil (Ballistol or camellia oil) applied once or twice a month protects against corrosion for the long term. For extended storage, keep the sword outside its scabbard, in a dry place away from direct sunlight. If a rust spot appears, gently buff it with a very fine stone and oil it immediately. A well-cared-for blade lasts through generations.

Is this sword sharpened?

Our carbon steel blades (1045, 1060, T10, Damascus) all ship sharpened by our partner smiths. Stainless steel blades (420, 440), made for collection and display, are not sharpened.
